A 'Merry' time with Chris Rock: Comedian wants 'Hannah Montana'

Chris Rock, known for edgy comedy, says he got into DreamWorks' "Madagascar" franchise for the "Hannah Montana money."

"You know, you get in with the kids and that definitely can't hurt," Rock told reporters in a conference call.

Wednesday at 8, NBC will premiere "Merry Madagascar," a holiday cartoon based on the "Madagascar" films; it features favorites Alex (Ben Stiller), Marty (Rock), Melman (David Schwimmer) and Gloria (Jada Pinkett Smith).

After Santa (Carl Reiner) crash-lands on the island, it's up to the Central Park Zoo-sters to help deliver presents and save Christmas. Though their initial motive may have been a sleigh ride back to New York City, somewhere along the way, the four rediscover the magic of giving.
Rock says even though his Marty voice is different from his normal voice, kids still recognize him every time he opens his mouth. "The looks on their faces, it's like, 'Wow, I can't believe its him!'" said Rock. "They get very excited. And my youngest daughter, Zahra, is a bragger. She's very quick to tell people her daddy is Marty the zebra."
